Day on the Broads

These 6 have known each other for ever because Karen and Neil have been our best friends since Karen and I first met in 1990. Our families grew with Angus appearing in 1994 and Dan the following year. Then Lily and Mollie either end of 1997, and finally the youngest two Felix first for Karen and Henry for me to complete our matching families. What has been so lovely is that they all wanted to come together for this trip today. Karen and I remember a photo of all 6 of them as children, taken sitting on a fallen tree at Felbrigg. We need to search for that picture, so that we can compare them.

Today we picked up a picnic boat for 10 people at the marina in Stalham Staithe, close to the place where we have been launching our Canadian. We loaded up the boat with our bags full of food, and Jon was given the instructions by the Simpsons Boatyard man. Then we headed out onto the Broads for a leisurely day of chat, eating, laughing and relaxing. Jon did most of the driving, but a few others had a go. We stopped near Horning for our picnic lunch. It wasn't very sunny, but it was dry and pleasant and we were able to get off the boat and spread our feast out. It really was such a lovely day together. I'm so lucky that my lovely friends wanted to come all this way to spend the day with us. It really has been a great weekend. I've put pics on Instagram and Facebook, but will add a couple more in extras.

Shattered now. Got to be an early night!
