WILD WEDNESDAY IN THE GARDEN

After so much rain yesterday, I popped out into the garden this morning and can confirm that Autumn has defiantly (!) arrived - it was freezing and the wind was not at all pleasant.  In fact, within a few minutes, I felt chilled to the bone, which does not auger well for the winter.

Mr. HCB has decided to take down his two large contraptions so that if it gets any windier in the next few days, they won’t get damaged because they were rather expensive. It’s interesting to note that the nasturtiums are still blooming well.  He also has to tie up some of his chrysanthemums because the wind has blown them over, sort out the tomato plants in the greenhouse and then plans to scarify the grass and then mow it before the green bin is collected tomorrow.  Phew!

Such a lot to do but he refuses to let me help because  my hand is quite sore again so I shall just have to be content to potter indoors, although he might let me collect some of the blackberries - and there are still plenty of those on our thornless bushes.

We are now sitting in the conservatory having a cup of coffee and chatting together;  it’s quite warm in here because the sun is shining but Mr. HCB has confessed “It’s nearly vest time” so it must be cold outside!

Thank you so much, everyone, for your very kind comments stars and hearts for yesterday‘s blip.  If anyone is ever down in our “neck of the woods” you will always be welcome and I’m sure we would find lots to talk about over tea and cake.

“The leaves fall, the wind blows,
and the farm country slowly changes
          from the summer cottons
               into its winter wools.”
