Life's Little Moments

Colombia - Day 6

Starring the second largest hummingbird, the Great Sapphirewing.  Harder then heck to photograph and the light conditions weren't great, but I really like the way the wing color showed here.  This is a male, one of 4 that were frequenting the feeders at Termales del Ruiz up at 12,400 feet.  Yes, the air is thin and the temps are very brisk.  But the birds make it all completely worthwhile.  I am putting a shot of one of the males perched in Extra

We got a leisurely start today and drove 2 hours to this lovely place up in the the mountains.  Our rooms weren't ready so we grabbed our gear and headed out to where they have fruit and nectar feeders set up.  A break for a delicious lunch and then back out to shoot for the rest of the afternoon.  We are all meeting for dinner shortly and then early to bed to be ready for a 7:30 am start tomorrow - up to 14,000 feet!

Nothing chocolate yet but the day isn't completely over...

Thank you so much for all the comments, stars and hearts.  And apologies for not responding but I know everyone who's done a trip like this totally understands.   Muchas Gracias!
