Life's Little Moments

Colombia - Day 9

Starring the Scrub Tanager, a species that is common in Colombia and Equador.

We started early today, getting to our shooting location around 6:30 AM.  We were greeted warmly by our host and treated to a delicious breakfast cooked by his mother.  The birds were slow to arrive but once they started coming in, it was a steady stream with tanagers being the stars of the show.  There were also loads of butterflies and hummingbirds.

After leaving our morning location we stopped for lunch at a wonderful place on a small lake with Green Kingfishers and lots of other birds along with wonderful scenery.  Then back to the hotel.  From there, part of the group went back to the lek for Cock-of-the-rock photos and the other part of us spending time wandering the colorful streets of Jardine and snapping shots of whatever caught our attention.  The town is beautiful and the people are so warm and friendly.

Another wonderful dinner at a local spot and then back to the hotel.  We meet at 6 tomorrow morning to head to Medellin.  First stop once we arrive (about a 6 hour drive) is to get our Covid tests to allow re-entry into the US. Then we will head out for some afternoon photos.

Only two more days of shooting left.  I have mixed emotions - part of me sad to bring this wonderful adventure to an end and the other part of me anxious to get home to Hubs.  This trip has been so very good for me, on so many levels.

Thank you for all the love, and for following along on my adventure.  I wish I could reply to all of the heartfelt comments, but I will try to catch up once I am home.  In the meantime....be safe and have fun!
