Autumn walk In North Derbyshire

Val and I met up for a morning walk, taking advantage of the sunshine that was forecast.  The low sun was slanting through the trees as we worked our way down the stony paths in Padley Gorge, listening to water rushing over boulders at the bottom. The main shot was taken from the top of the valley, looking back towards Carl Wark and Higger Tor. I've added an extra from the woodland part of the walk, though I'm not particularly pleased with it;  it wasn't the kind of morning for lingering over photos... I always find that works best without company.

We got to Grindleford Cafe at the bottom, ready for coffee and cake...only to discover that they're not taking cards at the moment. We've both got out of the habit of carrying any cash, these days. So - a big thank you to the lovely woman on the counter, who explained that we could pay on the phone via Paypal instead.  We ate the cake gratefully, refuelled for the walk back up the other side of the valley.
