...Charfield embankment, when she comes...

It was hit or miss whether the rain would wash out any thought of capturing this shot, but as luck would have it not only did the rain cease but the sky gained some texture as the low cloud gave way to a bit of the blue.

The rails take on an s-bend as the Midlands main line comes south into Charfield. Even though this was only the locomotive, with nothing more than a single carriage trailing behind, she was leaning over as she crossed the Huntingford Embankment. The damp air promoted a decent trail of steam, too.

I wasn't alone (you're never alone when you're train spotting!) and a handful of us had a good old natter as we waited for the loco; checking the updates on our iPhones all the while. And then with a whoosh, it was all over.
