Bridges

The two banks of the Manchester ship canal may be close together, but getting from one side to the other can involve circuitous journeys. Here in Warrington it’s OK so long as there are no ships or tall boats coming through. If that happens then traffic chaos ensues. It’s why the local authority of this town is very nervous about any proposals to create additional port facilities to the east.

I had an appointment on the south side of the canal this afternoon, so I briefly stopped and took this view. I am at Stockton Heath looking east. The very distant bridge is the Thelwall viaduct carrying the M6 over the ship canal and River Mersey.

Lots of discussions with health professionals today, my dad has returned home from hospital.
