An ordinary life....

Craigh na Dun...

And so we come to the final night of our short break with Agnes and Adrian.  It's been a blast.  So much laughter and bonhomie.  There's something special about being with friends who have been our best friends since school (Agnes and me since Primary School and David and Adrian since secondary school) so many shared experiences to reminisce about and laugh at.  Memories long forgotten until one of us says "OMG, do you remember the time...." and we're off down a wormhole of laughter, lumps on throats and sometimes mortification! :-))

I will get around to backblipping when we get home (been having too much fun and chat in the evenings to stop and get the laptop out) but have a moment just now between dinner cooking and some packing.

Day started off as it has all week, David and Adrian (and sometime Agnes) taking Lola on her morning walk and returning in time for brunch.

We've' been weather watching all week and earmarked today for a trip to Kinloch Rannoch and a drive around Loch Rannoch.  I also wanted to visit a place we've passed before but I didn't realise it's significance and I've blipped it today.

Any fans of Outlander will recognise Craigh na Dun, the place of the standing stones that Claire walks through to be transported back in time over 200 years.  Apparently many fans turn up expecting to see the stones but alas they are props made of polystyrene and don't exist in real life (although I believe they are based on the Callanish standing stones on the Isle of Lewis)

Stopped briefly to get some photos then carried on to Loch Rannoch, which was looking magnificent (but cold!) in the low afternoon sun.  The drove round the loch was wonderful and the road to Tummel Bridge afforded magnificent views of Schiehallion, one of Scotland's most popular munros.  Stopped to let Lola have a wander and a snifff.

We had planned to carry on to the Queen's View at Loch Tummel but the need for coffee and poor Agnes feeling a bit queasy in the back made us cross Tummel Bridge and head back to the Lodge.

Stopped to pick up cake at Karelia House headed back to the lodge.

This evening we've quickly packed what we can now about to have a bit of a mish-mash dinner using up food that's left (cheeses, salad, flat breads, chips, coleslaw, celery and grapes :-))))

What a wonderful week.
