A time for everything

Ohio River walk

Sorry for another collage, but it was such a gorgeous day, and I had many shots I liked, and I couldn’t choose! It was Roger’s turn for a bad night last night - his knee was playing up - just a nagging ache, but enough to keep him from going to sleep for a while. The strange thing is, it doesn’t bother him when he’s moving, just when he’s resting, particularly when he goes to bed. So we both had rather a late start - I should have got up earlier, I was just lazy! Anyway, we had brunch, by which time Laura was back from work, and then we went for an urban walk, along the Ohio river in downtown Cincinnati, starting from International Friendship park, walking along the river to the suspension bridge, across the Suspension bridge to Covington, stopping to admire the Flood wall murals, passing the statue of John James Audubon, famous American ornithologist and illustrator, complete with Santa hat, before continuing across the Licking River into Newport, past some magnificent mansions, then back across the river on the Purple people bridge - a total of 6 miles. By this time, it was almost 4 pm, and L hadn’t eaten since 8am, so was rather hungry, so we decided to try out a Nepalese restaurant we have been wanting to try in Northside. It has an interesting story behind it. The owners, a Nepalese family, lost their home in the devastating earthquake of 2015, and decided to move to the US where their son was studying at university in Cincinnati. Working in restaurants to pay his bills and tuition, he had often shared his mother’s food with friends and coworkers, and after a few years of enthusiastic reactions, the family thought, Why not build a business around her food. They now have two locations. The one we went to wasn’t at all fancy and not particularly big inside, but outside they have quite a long covered eating area, which would be great in warmer weather!
This evening, Roger and I drove up to Lebanon to see their Christmas Parade of horse-drawn carriages - a second collage in extras.
