A Christmas riddle

Here is a new one for the Christmas crackers: "When is a party not a party?"

Boris has set the Cabinet Secretary the task of solving this one, hopefully in time for Christmas Day. I fear that the heads who roll may  be sacrificial lambs (wrong season of course)!

The Haltwhistle walkers did NOT walk today, but met for our annual Christmas bash/gathering/function/jamboree/party/business meeting at the Comrades' Club in Haltwhistle. It was brilliantly organised and we had a really good time. We are all of the age to be triple jabbed and sensible (well, the former rather than the latter) and we enjoyed being together again.

Let's hope the Omicron variant has not reached Haltwhistle yet.

There were some great awards. I even received one for a very hot walk I led in the Spring. Hot walking is apparently a new Olympic sport. I have no memory of the said walk.

Gymnastics was won by Pippa, who climbed on a trig point and lay flat.

The Grand Old Duke of York award was won by Catriona who confidently took her group up a steep hill out of Blanchland only to realise it was the wrong hill!

And so on.

The main mystery is the disappearance of the Golden Flipper that was always awarded. Someone must have mounted it on the wall of their dining room (or loo). The wettest walk did appear and was hotly contested.

You probably had to be there!!

There should have been a competition for the best Christmas jumper..... See extra and there was a lot to chose from.
