Marjorie's ramblings

By walkingMarj

It’s beginning to look…

….a lot like Christmas, even at our house!

Julie made this wreath for our front door. She knows we like birds so she included a cheeky little robin.

This morning I sent off gifts overseas (yes I know I’m late), did some returns and repotted the rest of the amaryllis bulbs.

It was so cold that my hands were painful by the end.

Then I ventured into the loft. I was “pleased” to see that the mouse traps had worked. I removed the bodies and reset with Stollen (for a little festive touch)!

I brought down the tree and all the ornaments.

That’s as far as I made it. Mum has had terrible problems with her eyes.

Here is the NHS rant. She was referred for an urgent appointment about 10 days ago. On Tuesday I phoned to find out when the appointment is to be told the referral had been returned to the GP to remake it. It had been demoted to non urgent but had to be submitted again.

I’ve been trying to speak to a GP about it and to explain how distressed Mum because of corneal irritation. Today I have had the frustration of speaking to the secretary who relays my messages and the GP’s messages. It’s crazy. You can’t have a conversation through a third party.

I’ve found out who specialises in dry eyes and had prompt advice from out very helpful rheumatologist. She replied by email within 4 hours. Now I know who to refer to (privately - sigh) but I need a GP referral.

Ever felt like you are going round in ever decreasing circles?

I asked if I could speak to the GP but no one called me back. Waited all day with the phone beside me.

Tomorrow is another day.

Time to find the Snow Fire for today’s chapped hands.
