Alnmouth

It’s only light for 7 hours so we have to make the most of it. We met Lynn and Gavin at Warkworth to walk to Alnmouth South Beach and it was lovely and bright after a grey week. (We had to de-ice the car before setting off). They took us via a bike track and across a golf course to the dune path from where we reached the mound overlooking Alnmouth. The river Aln used to take a different course behind the mound where there was a priory but now it separates the town from the mound. The blip is the trio descending to the estuary. We then walked back along the beach. It was a lovely morning and according to Mr C and Gavin Lynn and I set a cracking pace. That’s a first for me - but I was wearing my bulky ski jacket and boiled so I must have been doing OK.

Then we went to their house for a lovely lunch cooked by Lynn. Veggie chilli, avocado salad and tortilla - and great conversation. A grand day.

Covid numbers are over 50,000 a day. Scientists are worrying there will be 2000 hospital admissions a day.
