River Tweed Reflections

TT’s birthday today (hence yesterday’s secret shopping).  There were presents and cards – though he spread them out throughout the day.  BB headed off to help at mini rugby – only to find the time had been changed and no one had told him.  I went out for a run – five weary miles were plodded, but it was quite a nice morning – mild and still.  I came home and baked a birthday cake, did some more chores, then we all got ready and headed down the A1 to meet TT’s sister and husband for a birthday lunch.

We had a really lovely lunch, fabulous food and company in a very nice pub.  We were very surprised at the lack of mask wearing.  We were still in Scotland, but only just, where it is a legal requirement to wear a mask.  Anyway, it didn’t spoil our afternoon.  We then drove into Berwick and had a late afternoon twilight wander to walk off our lunch, before parting company and heading off in separate directions.

Once home, we cracked open a bottle of fizz and TT enjoyed opening the rest of his presents – there’s quite a whisky haul!  He chose a movie (Batman) and we all settled down to watch.  Later there were biscuits and cheese – which somehow made it feel like Christmas.
