William Wallace

TT and I were skiving today – well we had both taken the day off.  We send BB off to school, not exactly delighted that we weren’t going to be working today.  We reminded him he is off all next week, but be won’t be.  After TT had his hair cut, we drove down to the Borders – to St Boswells.  We had a look around the wonderful bookshop and had a very tasty early lunch in the café – followed by our first mince pie of the season – and they were very good mince pies, made with home-made mincemeat.  TT prides himself on being a mince pie aficionado!

After making a few purchases, we dropped our bags at the car and went for a walk by the river, on the St Cuthbert’s Way.  Many years ago – in the last century I think – TT and I walked the St Cuthbert’s Way from Melrose to Lindisfarne.  This section of the Tweed was part of the first day’s route.  Needless to say we didn’t have a great memory of it but we walked to the statue of William Wallace today – which we also took a detour to visit back then – and we both remember that part of the walk.

Once we had retraced our steps back to St Boswells, I popped back to the shop to buy some mince pies to take home.  We were home soon after BB and discovered he got a good mark for this physics – not quite as good as the marks he has had back so far – but still a really good mark which many would be delighted with.  He was very relieved and knows where he lost some marks now.  Hopefully this hasn’t knocked his confidence in his ability physics.  I made lasagne for tea  and TT chose another movie to watch.  Later BB had football training.

Such a lovely day – I do not want to go back to work tomorrow – I am almost in holiday mood – though a little too early.

It’s tricky to get a decent photograph of William Wallace – as the statue is very tall.
