Plan A

As a grinning, cigar smoking George Peppard once declared: I love it when a plan comes together.

Knowing that this would be the only opportunity for a week to have the offspring all together with me, by way of a treat, I’d planned a Domino’s blow-out in front of Home Alone 2 and with the fire on. It was lovely to sit there all warm and cosy with them all and feel the sofa shake with their laughter (even the teenager) as Daniel Stern and Joe Pesci took an absolute pasting at the hands of a young Macauly Culkin.

I’m a 43-year old (just) man (just) who can still enjoy the original Home Alone films and maintains that the setup to Kevin McAllister being left behind in the first film is a work of genius.

To balance out the pizza eating, I went for a run again at lunchtime (photo taken mid-run – note the trees from Arwen still clinging to the weir) and had a healthy lunch which featured much fruit and yoghurt, which just about assuaged my guilt.

Looking forward now to a three-day weekend, which will feature final bits of Christmas shopping, a viewing of the new Spider-Man flick and an overdue catchup with Simmo.

That’s the plan anyway…
