Pool party!

It was misty this morning, but not raining - an opportunity to get out along the Rivelin Valley trail, and try out some 'trees in the mist' shots, I thought.
There were some lovely misty trees, and frosted leaves and seedheads (see one of the extras).

But a far more mesmerising sight was provided by a group of wild swimmers in the one deep pool along the trail. Usually this is popular with teenagers in summer,  who jump into the murky depths from the rocks around the pool.  This is a bit of a heart-stopping moment when you see them and wonder quite what they're going to land on. Hidden rocks, sharp drinks cans...? etc.

Today, though, it was the turn of a really well-equipped group - well beyond teenage, cheerful and chatty. They were fine with me taking photos. Most were not wearing wetsuits; yet once in the water, they stayed in for quite a while.  I was really, really impressed.  The air temperature was hovering around zero but they were just having a fabulous time.  There's a closer-up shot in the extras.
