A time for everything

Christmas Day!

A happy day, enjoying having some of the family with us, and thinking of our daughterJen, a nurse, who is working over Christmas. So thankful for all those working on this day, doing those essential services that we all rely on. We also enjoyed several FaceTime chats with family in England. I had some good helpers in the kitchen, Laura helping prepare a few things, and Philip and Roger helping to clear up afterwards. We had a wonderful traditional English Christmas dinner of roast turkey and all the trimmings, followed by homemade Christmas pudding. We all ate too much! In the evening, we went to see the wonderful light display at Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park in Hamilton. It’s a drive through display, and this year was even a bit bigger and better than previous years. My pictures don’t really do it justice. They also had an app you could sign up so you could listen to coordinated music as you drove round.
In my collage I have included one of my Christmas ornaments, to remind us of the “reason for the season”, and also because it holds special significance for me. It is quite a large and heavy ornament, so it doesn’t go on the tree, but hangs by itself. I received it some years ago from Shirley, the assistant pastor at our previous church, when she was leading an Advent class studying the biblical links used in Handel’s Messiah - she gave one to every person or couple in the class. Unfortunately, since then she has passed away, at a relatively early age, from cancer.
