Bend and stretch

There seemed to be a lot of people doing Facebook/Instagram/Tiktok photo ops when we walked along the seafront this evening. It was an absolutely glorious day, so I suppose it was hardly surprising.

In the morning S went into town to buy lunch; I got some washing done, and Mystère continued to enjoy selecting different places in the garden to chill out. When we visited the house I was sure he would love it here. Lots of space, very quiet, and remarkably, no #catsofAlmunecar. I haven't seen a single feral cat. Most of the neighbouring houses are empty, and the only sounds are birdsong and swimming pool pumps. Plus, this morning, the chittering of a red squirrel running up a tree next door.

Once I'd got thoroughly warm I had another go at the swimming pool. Getting in slowly was better ... I did 20 lengths! Yes, a length is only 5 metres, but it's a start. Then I had a nice warm shower and sat in the sun to dry off, admiring the view of little yachts tacking around the glittering bay.

S had bought lubina a la espalda -- sea bass split down the middle with most bones removed, and flattened out like a spatchcocked chicken. He barbecued it and I made fried potatoes and broad beans with bacon. It was delicious and copious -- the fish made very generous servings for two, and only cost 11 euros. It would have been twice that in France.

Lunch was very late ... we had a short time to digest and then went into town for the Sunday afternoon blues at Robert's Top. It wasn't quite the same line-up of regulars, and it was also much less crowded than it used to be. Probably a good thing. Yet again, no-one asked for our vaccine passports. We stayed a couple of hours, and then back home.
