Blue sky Leeds!

Unlike the lights of Leeds seen last week in the early evening we had lovely blue skies accompanying us to the Matinee performance at the Leeds Playhouse today.

Not a pantomime but a production of Wendy and Peter Pan. The playhouse has a tradition of producing these well known tales with a twist and we try to get to them each year, one of the best was The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe a few years ago. Chris and I went with my friend, unfortunately we always forget that matinees are full of school groups and old folks like us! We all enjoyed it though and good to be back after two years.

In the collage you can see the colourful facade of the Playhouse against the blue sky and the set on stage ( four beds as there was a fourth child in this version ). The galleon was probably the most impressive prop as well as all the flying of course. No puppets in this performance, previous performances have had ‘Warhorse’ style puppets.

On the way to the theatre we passed the bottom of Briggate, these banners across the pedestrianised street were catching the sun. You can also see the large aerial photographs at either side of the street which have been there for a while. They show well known places and Yorkshire beauty spots. Well worth a closer look.

Tea on the Headrow and then the train home.

Having started the day at 6.15 am, getting up for the early 4 mile walk with the ladies, I’m now ready to put my feet up!
