Sunset Egret

A cloudless sky is never likely to produce a breathtaking sunset, and true to form tonight’s sun slips gently down into the sea, leaving just an orange glow.

But as it sinks, West Shore’s low tide of flooded channels provides a playground for egrets, oyster catchers, gulls and crows. It’s the egrets who are the stars of tonight’s show, the setting sun turning their snowy wings a delicate pink, or casting them in bronze or gold as they stand in glistening channels.

And so it’s fittingly a pink-winged egret that makes my main tonight - best viewed large - with various other sunset shots/collages in extras.
