Full Wolf Moon

I looked out the door early this morning to see the full moon with shreds of clouds floating across it shining through the trees. I stood outside on the porch in my pajamas and bare feet attempting to get a good picture. I didn't really succeed because the camera focused on the branches of the tree instead of the moon and it was too cold to hold the camera still. It's the only picture I took today so it will have to do. It obviously doesn't answer the the theme of better in threes, but my own explanation would be 'better in odd numbers'. This is true in Japan where I think it is a basic  tenet of ikebana flower arranging, but tables in restaurants are also set for five rather than four. We always wished it were true here as well since as a family of five we were never guaranteed a table without special arrangements....

And when it comes to the moon, I think it is better alone....

Our tankless water heater keeps turning itself off,  so we called the repair people who look after the heating and air conditioning. Because we're 'such good customers' they got somebody out here today. Because it could take 'two weeks to a month, maybe more' to special order the new parts needed, yet they have a new water heater in the shop, we elected to get a new water heater. He's coming back tomorrow morning to put it in.
No wonder thy think we're 'good' customers...

I won't go through the discussion between John, who just nodded and smiled at the mention of new parts, and I who asked how long it would take to get the new parts, and said that we couldn't go without hot water for a month. It was I who said we couldn't go to Dana's every time we needed hot water and asked how long it would take to get a whole new one. The repair guy allowed as how the new one was a 'much better' quality then our 11 year old 'cheap' one.

I can attest to the fact that the new one isn't cheap....

Claire is on her way to New York, having had quite the saga getting on the flight. She finally had an 'official' negative Covid test but since she didn't have any official record of when she got sick, they were telling her she had to quarantine for five days before she could get on a flight. The saga was resolved by the boyfriend's mother who apparently has either a lot of clout, a very forceful personality, or both. I told Matt that she probably couldn't wait to say good-bye to Claire....and much as she likes Anthony's mother, Claire was very happy to be getting on a plane so she could celebrate her 21st birthday with Julia and friends....
