Ferry

We had a lovely brunch a a pub on Union Street and then decided to walk to Quarr Abbey. The monastic buildings and church were completed in 1912 and are really quite beautiful. I can’t shake it out of my head that they should be much older.  It was a lovely walk along part of the coastal path around the Island. We stopped for a tea and then headed back to Ryde where we were to get the 3:45pm ferry back. As the boat left the pier I noticed the sun was quite low over the Island. It was lovely.  This also marked the end of my carnet of ten Wighlink passes that had been bought when we spent November on the island. I used more than PY, having to come back to London a couple of times for work, but fewer than I was expecting.  I wonder if I’ll buy another ten anytime soon?

Once again, a train change a Guildford. Engineering works meant the trains were going as far as Raynes Park before other commuters would have had to take a bus. We only had the two minute walk to the front door but it took us longer with a diversion to the Co-op to buy something for dinner.
