Life after Burradoo, NSW

Long Point Lookout

We took ourselves for a sanity-restoring drive today. We decided to visit a couple of lookouts that we have never been to before and that are about 50 km away from our home. Both Badgery's Lookout and Long Point Lookout give wonderful views across the Morton National Park and the Shoalhaven River. These lookouts are not well known and we basically had the place, on each occasion, to ourselves. It was wonderful.

Long Point Lookout gives an expansive view of the way the Shoalhaven River has wound around and created the valleys.

Morton National Park was substantially burnt out in the January 2020 bushfires. You can still see some of the bare earth but it is lovely to see the recovery that has taken place.

As we drove away from the lookout a large goanna, about 2m in length, suddenly dashed across in front of our car. I had to apply the brakes because I didn't want to hurt it. It then went off into the scrub beside the road. In the extra you can see its long tail and part of its body. I wasn't quick enough with the camera to get a decent shot of it.

I must say I am pleased we don't have goannas in our garden.
