Restoration

This is Bristol road lock and bridge. This is the new channel across the large roundabout, only recently completed. There is water in the channel, but the canal is not fully restored yet. See https://stroudwaterhistory.org.uk/bristol-road-wharf-and-lock/

GG and I went to a large garden centre to buy primroses (her idea) and had a cup of coffee outside whilst there. I was delighted to be out of Stroud!

Later, we parked and went to investigate the new channel in the middle of the large roundabout, the latter built in the early 1970s. It's all indeed shiny and new underneath, and marks a new stage in the canal's restoration, as well as linking up with existing waterside walks.

After returning, I had a short rest and went out to the cinema to watch the recorded Livestream of Tom Stoppard's play, 'Jewish play', Leopoldstadt. The stories of the Merz family in Vienna will stay with me forever. (The play debuted in London in February 2020, but was interrupted by the first and subsequent lockdowns of the pandemic). https://www.theguardian.com/stage/2020/feb/12/leopoldstadt-review-stoppards-family-portrait-is-an-elegiac-epic
