Looking Up.....

It was a day of milder temperatures, accompanied by melting snow, water dripping off snow-capped roofs, and rivulets running down driveways.  It was still a dull, grey and gloomy day, but there was a hint of spring in the air...just a hint.. just enough to raise the spirits a tad..but even a tad is good. At this stage of winter, we will grasp at any sign at all that relief is on the way...

It was a challenge to come up with an interesting photo that would represent the day - the best I could manage was snow melting ..not very colourful, and definitely not all that interesting...but hey that was the day! No colour, no blue skies, no flowers in the garden, just a sign that spring is on its way..a reason to cheer up...

Some other good things have happened too...Yesterday the government of Canada finally lifted its advisory against non-essential international travel....although it did come with cautions... and announced that re-entering Canada, as of February 28, will be much easier with regards to testing and quarantining. There is hope for resuming some overseas travel!

Here on the home front, there is good news too! My cataract surgery is back on! Starts next week!  AND...my sister and I have just today received new dates for our latest watercolour painting trip to Limoux France that was canceled in the pandemic .... Unfortunately the dates are for 2023, but at least they are re-scheduled! There is hope! There is an end to this dark tunnel...

That hope comes with the knowledge, of course, that there is still more winter to come - more snow, more frigid temps - this is Canada, eh? but for now, we will enjoy this little preview of spring...and focus on all the indications that our pre-pandemic way of life is gradually being restored.

Things are indeed looking up.
