A Chilly Day

It felt like a cold day for mid Feb with a temp of 3C at 2pm this afternoon, with rain all afternoon following some nice sun in the morning. Storm Eunice was a nuisance here from 3pm for about 5 hours, with some swirling strong gusts around 6-7. The photo bottom left is my neighbour’s house opposite at the back where 5 ridge tiles came off and looked to have smashed another tile on the way down. Power lines were down at a couple of local places, but just minor damage thankfully, in part due to the warnings meaning most people stayed at home. I watched the close men’s curling final this morning with Sweden narrowly better and winning gold, good to see Team GB get a silver medal. Then I walked into town for a newspaper and a walk before the rain and yet another windy day tomorrow. The top picture is of a painting by a local arts group on the hoarding shielding the build of the new Budgens. I’m a bit surprised at the lack of progress - bottom centre. The nest, bottom right, had been blown out of a tree.

This afternoon I watched Tick, Tick…..Boom! on Netflix which I really enjoyed, but then I do like a musical. I thought Andrew Garfield was brilliant as Jonathan Larson, I can see why he got his Oscar nomination.

Day 705 / Day 24 Post Plan B (for my record only)
Research for PwC shows that over 17,000 chain store outlets closed last year during the 2nd year of the pandemic (down very slightly from 2020), but now more independent retail and leisure outlets are setting up. High streets fared worst and retail parks did best.
