Flower Friday ...

... Iced dogwood bud.

We awoke to about a quarter of an inch of ice this morning ... not too bad. And the temps steadily rose throughout the day which melted most of it by the time we had to go out later in the evening.

When all the ice was melted from the driveway I made my way outside to take in all the ice covered plants.  It was beautiful as only Mother Nature can provide.  These are the dogwood buds from our neighbor's tree which borders our driveway.  I hope the ice hasn't damaged the buds ... but I don't think it will inhibit the Spring flowering.

We attended an interesting program at Jacobsburg State Park this evening regarding the Chickadees.  We live in an area where the Black-capped chickadees overlap with the Carolina chickadees and this has created hybridization of the two species.  The speaker was a young lady who is a PHD student at Lehigh University doing studies on this phenomenon.  It was all very interesting and we learned some things! And that's the whole reason they do these programs, isn't it!?!
