Quod oculus meus videt

A Damning Indictment

On a day where the UN called an extraordinary session of their General Assembly to discuss the continuing invasion of Ukraine, they also released the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's latest Adaptation Report slating world leaders for their continuing failure to tackle climate change.

As we walked around the park today you wouldn't immediately say that global warming was apparent, but it's still unusual to see hawthorn blossom in February and we've had a very mild winter so far.  Last week saw three major storms cross the UK in a 5 day period, something unheard of in the past and the flooding events that were associated with them, previously described as once in a hundred year events, seem to happen every other year.

You just wonder whether the Doomsday Clock  will need changing in light of the current crises dominating our news agendas.  I'm old enough to realise that the greater impacts are unlikely to affect me greatly, but to see a report that concludes that 40% of the World's population are highly vulnerable to these changes seems the alarmist rhetoric of science fiction, but it is becoming more and more apparent it is science fact.

We're all going to hell in a hand cart.
