Return to Mor Elias

Today’s adventure takes us back to Mor Elias, the nature reserve just west of Llanfairfechan. It’s our third visit here this year, the first being in glorious sunshine back in January, the second on a cold and windy day last month. Today we’re blessed with a mixture of the two; at least the sun’s warmth dulls the wind’s keen edge.

Clouds gather ominously over Anglesey, but for now the sun shines through, and there are glorious vistas over land and sea across the salt marsh. The flocks of wigeon gather round the coastal dunes, too far away to photograph as this is a protected area, though there are a few whistling around the marsh pools together with teal and redshank - all very twitchy, flying off the moment they see my camera.

Sheep graze on these salt marshes - but as we return along the inland path, we discover some more unusual varieties. One may be a Black Welsh Mountain Sheep, but I’m really unsure about the other horned variety. Both types have the most amazing eyes - and share a reluctance to look up from their grazing!

Edit: I’ve changed my main today from a view across the salt marsh towards Llanfairfechan to the black Welsh mountain sheep , another sheep and teal in extras - and the coastal view.
