Spitting Image

I was sitting on an abandoned ride-on mower in the sunshine when I heard a soft purring sound above. It was this ultralight Silence Twister aircraft. I immediately identified it, having photographed a pair of them displaying at The Little Gransden Air Show years ago. As can be seen from my image, the design drew inspiration from the Supermarine Spitfire and the shapes of the Twister's wings, fin and tailplane all recall the famous World War II fighter.

We spotted Reynard for the first time in a while this morning on the southerly bank of the lake. He has lost a lot of fur from his rear quarters because of mange but thankfully his skin doesn't look too sore or infected. Hope he recovers.

I saw my first brimstone butterfly of 2022. The males patrol looking for females and don't settle to be photographed. The comma was more accomodating.
