Loving Lisbon

Wandered around the older parts of Lisbon before we came home, vaguely heading in the direction of one of the seven Copenhagen Coffee Labs, the one in Alfama. As Ermelinda remarked, totally geared to foreigners, but the coffee is delicious, and so was the half of a cinnamon bun I had.

The alcove in the photo tells the story of Lisbon in cartoon form, which some loser has obliterated a quarter of with spray painting. That's the São Vicente de Fora church through the arch.

Lent verses were the whole of Genesis chapter 37, which tells the story of 17yr old Joseph being sold as a slave by his brothers. After many twists and turns, twenty-two years later Joseph is able to save his whole family from starvation. Part of the prayer that follows is:
Give me patience to live at your pace, Lord.
Open my eyes to recognise your hand that guides and protects me.

Gratefuls:
- Paul treating us to the coffee and buns
- Ermelinda treating us to Amorino ice-cream
- clear blue skies again, yay! though all the pavements brown with dust still
