Mobility

(1/4/22)
(I can't believe it has taken so long to blip this incredible day.)

G's school organised a morning at EXPO 2020 for the grades that her two students are in, meaning she was free. So, as we had so much advance notice, we were able to hire the buggy service offered to "Seniors".

Armed with a packed lunch, fruit poppers and all the energy we could muster for a hot day (we're in a heatwave), we met our driver at 9:45 sharp. He was a very cheerful Filipino man who would whiz us around the site to show us the extent of it, stopping anywhere we wanted. I'm amazed at how fast they go. We had 90 minutes of his time, which he extended by a further 30. I guess he liked our company!! He took us to the Water feature (Surreal), which we'd heard of but hadn't experienced yet. I was shocked to find I'd taken nearly 500 photos on my camera. Even my battery ran out, and I had to ask G if I could use her camera towards the end.

So, after we had our tour of the vast site, we visited Ukraine. G found it very emotional with all the messages placed on the walls and any available space supporting them. We got to take a picture with President Zelensky! We then went over to the Mobility district, giving a ride to a lady who wanted to get to Tanzania. Mobility is the section we have spent the least amount of time in, so we spent the rest of the day visiting Denmark, Gambia, Oman (where we had a blipmeet with Desert Camel - see my extra), Turkmenistan, Russia, Slovakia (where we saw their Hydrogen car), Bulgaria, the Holy See, Mexico, Sudan, Dominican Republic, Mongolia, Peru, Angola, Antigua & Barbuda, Senegal, Moldova and Estonia. (Phew). We also saw the amazing, larger than life wax figures of prominent Arab Explorers in Alif (another extra), Mobility's theme district, and the EXPO Museum. By this time, I was really flaking and struggling to put one foot in front of the other to walk back to the car. Fortunately, we got a ride on a buggy at the very end.

It has been a good and eventful, if tiring day, the highlights of which had to be meeting DesertCamel and her husband for the first time, and finally going into the Ukraine, Peru and Alif pavilions.
