Peekaboo

A tiny dinosaur. I've never seen a gecko as black as this, and there was a whole family of them in this wall. It skittered into hiding when I approached but I walked a little way off and then quietly crept back -- it couldn't resist coming out to bask in the warm spring sunshine. It was a lovely spring day, only slightly marred by the knowledge that Marine le Pen was holding her last campaign rally in Narbonne. The polls are scary, but I'm trying to keep calm. A win for her doesn't bear thinking about -- and shouldn't even be on the cards in France, birthplace of human rights.

Extra: this seems to be a goldfinch, but it's rather scruffy looking -- is it moulting or something?

Various mundane tasks during the day ... S made a delicious chicken pie for lunch. In the early evening we called in to catch up with S and R, but we always forget that they have their tea at the very English hour of 6 pm so we keep interrupting them as they are about to sit down. We had a beer and a chat anyway, and then returned  home for wine and a few small nibbles.
