Fun in Lakeside Park

A lovely day with Landon. First it was soccer school where he was really good. Then it was brunch with his mum and his dad.

From there we went to Lakeside Park for fun on the climbing equipment with a basketball on a slide. Don’t ask, he invents games. We played plenty of games of hide and seek.

Dad took Landon home while we had a walk around Discovery Lake and part of the way along the Cima Trail until it degenerated into an heavily eroded path. We turned back at this point not having the necessary footwear and the trail being in full sun at this point. In the cool breeze and shade the air temperature was around 20c, out in the open sun it was hot.

We saw lots of large colourful butterflies and many birds none of which we were able to identify. We were able to identify a coyote that loped away along the track in front of us, disappearing into the scrub only to reappear around the next bend.

The best part of the day was when we went swimming in the complex’s pool. Dad came along to begin with then left us to it. Landon wasn’t bothered and he and I had a great time diving for toys on the floor of the pool. He’s a great swimmer, diver and bobs about like a cork.

Lastly this evening we went to see a production of the Disney story Moana Jr at the local Double Peak K-8 school. Landon was engaged with the performance for the whole hour, quite an achievement for a 4 year old.

What amazing facilities this school and all other schools we’ve seen have. The public facilities provided by the city of San Marcos are also impressive with baseball/softball diamonds, floodlit soccer pitches and plenty of parks with play equipment.
