Mother Shipton Moth

We found a striking moth this morning. I've seen and photographed one of these only once before. It gets its name because of markings on its wings which are said to look like Mother Shipton, a hook-nosed soothsayer who was born in a Yorkshire cave in 1488.

Lovely to spot a latticed heath moth, an acorn weevil - my favourite and a tortoise shieldbug too.
