Marjorie's ramblings

Freda's last day

This morning I drove to Acomb Woods and did the short circular walk there with Freda. It was relatively dry and she managed well on the rougher parts of the path.

We both enjoyed all the wild flowers. The swathes of wood anemones have been partly superseded by swathes of wild garlic. The bluebells are better than I have ever seen them in this particular wood.

The globe flowers were in bud, as was monkshood. We saw early shoots of Martagon lilies. And more and more.

My blip is a sycamore tree, taken against the light from the sky. The flowers are very pretty.

After lunch, I took Freda to Hexham station. She needed a ticket which I procured from the machine. It was not easy. The touch screen was not working all the time and needed a firm hand. It must be terrible for people who are unsure of the technology.

No trains are running this weekend from Newcastle to Sunderland or Hartlepool, but the replacement bus service worked well and she was home 2 hours later.
