Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

Island Life (#7)

Very nice peaceful day.    Had a good walk to the top to get my 2 miles, spent time to order new golf cart batteries to be delivered to Seattle,  cleaned some of the screened porch optimistically in anticipation of summer,   wandered on the beach,  (today would have been a perfect time for the rock guy to come look at the path down …we’ve got a temporary way for me to get there….but no…maybe tomorrow???)   Then decided to light the sauna …lovely as there was a light rain while we sat on the steps to cool off…the best.… then tried the outdoor shower for the first time….50 degrees out….the water was hot but only a dribble…waiting for the plumber this week too to deal with the system pressures.   Hopeful.
All part of life on the Island.

The tide wasn’t low enough to get any of the few starfish which I have seen there (they have never fully recovered from the wasting disease of several years ago) … but I think there are more oysters than last year.   These are native pacific oysters…can get really big…this is maybe 5 inches.    I’ve read that they aren’t as affected by the warmer water temps as was first predicted…but the barnacles and mussels are.   Almost no mussels to be seen. And fewer barnacles.  Lots of limpets (attached to the oyster shell)  The seaweeds are doing well….

And look what's come up in my "garden" from at least 4 years ago!  extra
