Life through the lens...

RHS Harlow Carr

Just back from a lovely day spent at RHS Harlow Carr,Harrogate.
The weather was a bit mixed, but stayed dry and was quite warm when the sun came out.
Although the car park was quite full the gardens were quiet.
A lot of people just go into Betty’s and never walk round the gardens.

Today was a day for rhododendrons as well as azaleas and some newly planted magnolias.
( see extras)
Also a stunning display in the Alpine house.
Extra collage especially for Knottman2.

The vegetables beds were a little disappointing as they had a lot of the raised beds filled with lettuces and radishes. No doubt doing some trials.

We are also not too happy with some of the changes they are making, especially doing away with the two large herbaceous borders which used to stretch from the top of the garden down to the stream.
I suppose things have to change and some of the new planting I like, but they were a big feature of the garden. Probably not in fashion anymore.

For once I didn’t buy anything. I wanted another small alpine but they didn’t have any.
I think they were restocking as many of the plant shelves were empty.

First extra the alpines Second extra Magnolias and a lovely mosaic made of pebbles and shells.Third extra rhododendrons, and fourth extra a beautiful little butterfly which was in our garden before we left.
