The Sun Always Shines on TV

We’ve been watching the Channel 4 programme “A Lake District Farm Shop”, which is set in Tebay Motorway Services and details day to day happenings there as well as giving us background info on all the local businesses whose products they sell in the on site farm shop.
As it’s only a twenty minute hop up the M6 from our house, we thought we’d go there for a coffee this afternoon. Despite it only being a few yards from the motorway, you can’t really tell as there is a screen of tall trees. Instead you have views down the Lune Valley, a dog walking route through the woods and a duck pond to look at whilst having your coffee. Not as sunny as it is usually portrayed on the telly though!
It was quite busy while we were there. I suspect the rainy day and the popularity of the TV programme had led others to do the same as us. The coffee was delicious (as was the cake we shared) and prices were not much different to what you’d pay at Costa or Cafe Nero. We bought a few things from the farm shop as well.
As the rain had eased by the time we’d finished, we thought we would continue up the motorway to Penrith and visit Cranston’s Food Hall - carrying on with a sort of gastronomic tour of the Lake District. Many more items to tempt us there, and a large amount of money was spent on goodies for tea tonight and tomorrow.
By now the sun was trying to shine through, so we took the scenic route back to Kendal, down the A6. A very pleasant afternoon out and the first time out of the house for Mrs C since she succumbed to the dreaded lurgy last week. Still not fully over it though as even the short walk along the path to get the photo, left her quite tired and breathless.
Would definitely go back to Tebay again for a coffee, but I’m not sure we can afford to carry on to Cranstons each time - either financially or with regard to our waistlines!
