If you can't beat them...

Wild Swimming.

Kat has been down from Edinburgh for a few days giving us a hand with various things.  The garden is wondering what hit it, being an early riser she was out there some days getting jobs done by 7:00 am.  Today was her last day before she headed up home in the late afternoon.

We started with a visit to Up Front Gallery for her to "see art" (that is her code for coffee and cake at a place that usually has some to which she isn't allergic).  Then it was off down to the Lake as she wanted a swim, her first of the year, because of having pneumonia during winter.  Last year she swam all winter with water temperatures down to 3° C.  I should explain the orange thing is a float she tows behind her as it is more visible in the water than a human head.

The extra is a female Grey Wagtail ( Motacilla cinerea ) which spent all the time we were there gathering insects along the shore and flying off, presumably to feed chicks before very quickly returning.
