Two mosquito bites

Sigh.

Tomorrow I will replace the bulbs in the mosquito killer lamps and we'll see how it goes.

My friend came over last week and I showed her my garden. Today I went to her house and saw hers. It is hard to drive when you are staring at everyone's trees in their yards. I need a self-driving Tesla in Iceland.

Actually, one of the driving hazards in Iceland is tourists who have just stopped in the middle of the road to stare.

Since the invasion Germany has spent billions to reduce its energy dependence on Russia, taken control of Russian-owned energy assets in Germany, changing laws to accelerate planning, and securing new international supplies. This has included building new natural gas import hubs and a network of pipelines to channel fuel across the country. There is a Russian-owned refinery in eastern Germany that, naturally, only wants to refine Russian oil. Germany is working on a new law that will allow them to seize it. It would take years to build new LNG terminals so Germany is leasing four giant LNG ships.

Russia is going to cut off natural gas to Finland. Finland said, "fine, be like that." Finland and Estonia went in together on a floating LNG terminal and is building port structures for it. It should be ready by winter. Most of Finnish natural gas demand is from industry and they've been preparing. The biggest consumer has secured alternative supply and is working toward using propane to produce hydrogen rather than natural gas to produce hydrogen. Another large user is the forest industry. The top firms already are dumping Russian gas. One has a contract with the US. Another has a contract with Estonia. A third is replacing natural gas with oil and LNG.

Remember the arson attack on a Russian military enlistment office? They keep happening, at least 12 since the beginning of the war. Three happened over the last weekend.

The electric motorcycles the Ukrainian Armed Forces are using? Some are modified to carry Next Generation Light Anti-Armor Weapons (NLAW rockets). These let a single person destroy an enemy tank. The electric motorcycles let them get to shooting position discreetly and rapidly and then get out.

Russian forces fleeing villages near Mykolaiv left behind a Belgian Shepherd. Ukrainian forces adopted the trained military dog and named him Max. They've begun teaching Max Ukrainian.
