A lovely family day

We have had a full family day today, and it has been lovely. It began with Manda and I taking a quick trip to the allotment to feed the chickens, while Jon got the car sorted out and with mum, drove down to collect us. We drove straight to the Priory Maze for coffee where we met Mollie and Josh, and Daniel and Henry who all made their own way. By a miracle we literally all pulled in together.

We sat in the sun outside and had coffee and cake for 8, plus a little one; mum's treat! Jon and the boys discussed their forthcoming weekend away, and final plans. The girls plus little one sat and chatted.

From there, the boys headed home, Mollie and Josh went their way, while I took Jon's car and Manda mum and I went for a wander round Sheringham. The market was buzzing and mum bought a nice straw hat. Manda bought some books and I got bird food. We had a pasty for lunch sitting in the high street watching the world go by, and dipped into most of the charity shops coming away with some additional purchases.

The afternoon was spent in the garden, where we worked hard clearing one patch of weeds. We ended with a bottle of cava inviting Jon over to join in the fun!

We changed out of our gardening togs and headed into Cromer for fish and chips overlooking the pier, followed by an hour in the arcades. Poor Jon, who hates the arcades, was very patient as we kept winning, and ploughing our 2ps into one particular machine. We came away with 2 pairs of earpods, a keyring and a box of sweets. Between us we think we spent £7. We think that was pretty good going for a night out for 5 people - and the ear pods turned out to be worth £15 a pair, and my box of sweets had 15 lollies and 10 chews! I'll be donating them to Henry I think! My current sugar free existence seems to be working to make me feel better and I don't want to risk ruining that!

We are now back home, with more wine opened and a programme about 'Are you being served' on TV. One of our favourites from our childhood.

Manda goes home tomorrow and it has been a lovely time together, but too short!
