Siskin ( Spinus spinus )

I have taken the easy way out for today's "30 days wild" shot.  A variety of birds visited the feeders and I am sure over the next 25 days I will be blipping more of them.  However, it is a while since a Sisking visited so I chose that.

Siskins are mainly distributed north of the Tees- Exe line.  The population reached a peak around 2012 and has since decreased by almost 50% back towards what it was in the mid 1990s.  A small bird with a short life span, however, the record age, set by ringing records, is 8yrs 6 mth 10 days, as opposed to the average 2 years.
