Wound up in Wexford

Waiting for the Lochaline ferry

Travelling home.  We ummed and ahed about which ferry to catch, but by the time we got around to trying to book the ferry to Oban, the only sailings with available space were 8 in the morning or last thing at night.  So that made our minds up for us.  We'd also considered spending more time on Mull and catching a later ferry; but W slept badly and woke with a streaming nose, feeling pretty rough.  And the weather was very showery.  So we drove straight to Fishnish.  Mind you, the Mull roads meant that the 25 miles took an hour.

When we arrived, the ferry was over in Lochaline - you can just see it in the distance on my photo.

The weather continued very showery.  And we just missed the Corran ferry, meaning we had quite a long wait for that.  We stopped at Glen Coe National Trust for Scotland again, for a lunch break.  W was feeling a little better, but still not up for driving.  Whilst eating our lunch, we considered our options for the rest of the day.  We decided we had enough electrons to reach the services at Abington, just beyond Glasgow, and when we looked for accommodation nearby, found the Days Inn at those very services had a very reasonably priced room available.

So that's where we are.  We've driven just under 200 miles, and it's taken all day.  Car is charged, we've watched Monty Don, drunk some wine, and now it's bed time.

Goodnight all.
