Wild weather

Today’s weather has been wild - straight off the Antarctic ice shelf. We’ve had extremely strong winds all day, with even stronger gusts.  The rain has been horizontal at times, with hail and thunder, and the harbour bridge was closed several times during the day. Definitely a day for staying indoors. Bizarrely, we’ve even had bursts of sunshine. However, the wind is still raging and, no doubt, there’ll be more rain overnight.

The blip shows the type of day it was. Don’t be fooled by the sunset - it was a moment of peace in a wild day.

There are 4,413 new community cases today, and the seven-day rolling average is 5,921 compared to 6,574 last Monday. The number of people in hospital is 352, including 9 in ICU. Another 5 deaths have been reported, bringing the total number of deaths to 1,325 and the seven-day rolling average to 13.
