Streatham / Cambridge

We caught the train from Streatham Hill at 10:36am to London Victoria, then the Victoria Line to London King’s Cross.  The station was very busy and there was a large crowd waiting at Platform 9 and 3/4.  Not having read Harry Potter and, therefore, not being a fan it all seemed rather silly.  The train to Cambridge was late, leaving just before midday instead of 11:42am.  It was a good trip, though, and we finally arrived at a very sunny and hot Cambridge.  We looked around, unsuccessfully, for somewhere to have a sandwich and coffee before catching the bus to our B&B.  There were a couple of food trucks but we didn’t fancy anything they had on offer, so had to resort to a multiple, which we didn’t really enjoy.  As we walked to the bus stop quite close by we saw what looked like a very nice, independent café but by then it was too late.  The bus trip didn’t take long and we were soon knocking on the door of the B&B.  We couldn’t check into the room, but were given a key and the WiFi code, so were able to check emails, etc., while we waited to be picked up by MrMacD’s nephew’s wife, A, who is a lovely young woman.  She drove us back to their home about 5 miles out of town and we only had a short while to wait before MrMacD’s nephew and two of their three young boys turned up from school, followed a short while later by the eldest boy.  We had a delightful afternoon and evening with the young family, lots of chat, and a delicious BBQ supper.  The three boys are three quite different personalities and it was interesting to watch them interact.  The middle one is very keen on art and showed me a drawing he’d done, which was very good.  A little while later he offered to do a drawing for me and we agreed it would be a Llama.  I was duly presented with the drawing as we were about to leave - a Llama with a bowler hat and a multi-coloured coat.  Wonderful!!  A drove us back to our B&B just after 8:30pm.  She needs her sleep!!

Unfortunately, I’m way behind again dipping into journals and responding to comments.  Apologies - I’ll catch up soon.
