Emperor dragonfly

Awful photo - she did insist on ovipositing against this really busy background.  But she's the first dragonfly I've seen ovipositing on our pond this year, though there has been, and still is, plenty of damselfly action.  In fact, I cannot recall seeing an emperor since this occasion.

We've had a very hot day - the only cool room in the house is our study, which means that we have spent rather more time than is good for us gazing at computer screens.  Though W (who is now 8 days into Covid, so reckoned he is likely to be non-infectious) did go out briefly, masked, to pick up some sealant for the shower.

I spent an hour or so in the studio cutting out some squares to make a patchwork, and was literally dripping onto the fabric at one point.
