Swallows

It rained a lot this morning, and I spent some of the time using our ground floor, back bedroom as a bird hide. The swallows from the garage were - unusually - spending quite a lot of time on the ground, collecting nest material. Renovation? Or a nest for a second brood...?
But then the weather brightened up this afternoon. Richard and I went into Larne to pick up a bit of shopping, and to visit Barbara (R's niece). When we got back to Glenarm, there was diffuse sunlight and we walked over to the harbour. I had another go at taking photos of swallows in flight over the river mouth. This time they seemed to be spending more time just over the surface of the water, sometimes dipping right in for a sip (or a particularly juicy insect?) Watching them was sheer delight.
