Platte

My friend Isa and I met on top of the Platte today. That’s a nearby hill with a restaurant, where we had coffee and cake after a walk in the forest.

Or rather, a walk in what used to be forest. Lots of former spruce plantations have been dying off by bark beetles, which multiplied like never before in the dry and hot summers since 2018. Now, all that’s left are the few deciduous trees that weren’t affected by the beetles.

Thankfully, we also found some patches of healthier looking beech forest, and enjoyed our walk nevertheless.
