One Street: Tirer des plans sur la comète

... means, roughly, "building castles in the air". This particular castle bandstand market hall is in my One Street. It is allegedly what this car park will eventually look like. Don't hold your breath. So far the project has moved at a speed that makes a glacier look positively fast. Every week when we go to the market, I go and check it out. And every week it still looks like this. They haven't even started the demolition yet. The only thing that has changed is that this artist's impression has now appeared.

We got up rather late this morning and didn't really seem to catch up all day. We got stuck behind a slow-moving vehicle for 5 km and didn't get to the market till nearly 12. Pottered around bumping into various people we hadn't seen for a long time.  Then we had to drive around a traffic jam on the way out of town, arrived at our chosen restaurant so late that it was full up, and ended up at the friendly pizzeria in Fabrezan, where we sat outside and had our first ice cream of the year.

A minimal amount of work was done in the afternoon. Still desperately looking for ways of using the lava-like sourdough starter lake, I made some sourdough focaccia topped with home-made sweet chili jam. It looked just like the photo :) We've just tried some and it tastes good too -- I'll be making it again.

In other news, the general store in our village has finally closed down for good. So we could be making more trips into town if we don't get better organised :(
